About Snoqualmie Falls

This epic, 268 foot waterfall is less than an hour away from Seattle, making it a great, convenient spot for an engagement session! It’s located right next to the Salish Lodge & Spa, which is a popular wedding venue, or a chance to turn your engagement session into a little weekend getaway if you want to check out the resort.

There are two observation decks at Snoqualmie Falls – the upper deck is close to the main parking lot, and gives you a view of the waterfall from above, and if you walk down the paved (but somewhat steep) path, you’ll get to the second deck, which gives you another view of the falls. For the best scenery, take the nature trail down to the river and walk along the rocks to get closer to the base of the falls!  

The Best Time for Snoqualmie Falls Engagement Photos

Because Snoqualmie Falls is so popular, it’s a good idea to plan ahead to avoid the crowds! On a sunny, warm day, there will be a lot of people around – and for your engagement photos, it’s nice to have a little more privacy. 

Summer is the most popular time to see the waterfall, so late spring and early fall will be a great time for an engagement session. It’ll be much less crowded, and the weather is warm enough for exploring! As PNW dwellers know, it’ll likely be rainy – but the mist from the falls will likely get to you anyway, so it’s best to bring some layers regardless! Doing your engagement photos in the winter can give you a unique look at the snowy waterfall, but you’ll definitely need to be prepared for cold and rain.

I always recommend that couples scheduelt their Snoqualmie Falls engagement session for a weekday, since it’ll be much less busy than the weekend. Waking up at sunrise is the best way to avoid crowds, but if you’re not an early bird, sunset will also be less popular than the middle of the day, and you’ll have amazing lighting!
