A Backyard Elopement // Snoqualmie, WA

This wedding was so special for me to capture.

I had the pleasure of being Emily’s small group leader while she was in college. Then, I got to be a mentor for her as she helped start a ministry for college women. She has always held a precious place in my heart, and because of that, I got to be a big fan of her beloved Baly, too. Because of COVID-19, Emily and Baly had a big decision to make, just like so many couples out there: do we push our wedding back to 2021 in hopes that the pandemic is under control, or do we get married now without our friends surrounding us? They decided that to them, it was most important that they got married. So on June 12, 2020, on the day that marked 5 years of dating, they said “I do” in front of their families. The whole day was so special. Emily got ready at her childhood best friend’s house where her ceremony was, too.

For their first look, we went to one of their favorite local spots. When Baly turned around to see his bride, he RAN to her and it was honestly the cutest thing ever. Within 10 minutes of taking pictures, it started to rain. The couple totally embraced it, whipped out their umbrellas, and soaked in every moment with gratitude.

I will never forget their ceremony and reception.

There may have only been 20 relatives there, but the amount of love this family has made it seem like there were hundreds and hundreds of hearts. Emily and Baly are deeply loved by their family and their Creator, and I know because of that, they will multiply the love for decades to come. Emily + Baly, thank you for welcoming me into your family with open arms. Emily, you will always be one of my girls. I am so dang proud of you. Cheers to forever!!!
